Institution: Åbo Akademi University. Spring 2005- (Spring 2005-Spring 2008 together with Kim Holmberg).

Credits: 5 ECTS/sp

Level: Advanced

Procedure: Students participate a lecture (if held during an appropriate period), browse the literature and formulate a preliminary title and synopsis for their papers. The synopsis and a preliminary list of literature is sent to the teacher by email and a meeting/seminarium (either face-to-face or virtual) is booked. During the meeting the title and topic students get comments on their title and topic and in some cases some tips on literature. The final paper is submitted on an agreed date.

Instructions on paper and literature studies: Literature used in the paper gives 1 credit per 200-250 pages (depends on texts) and paper 1 credit for 5-6 pages (10000-12000 characters) of texts without references. Length of paper is expected to be between 10-18 pages (2-3 credits). Course papers are expected to show advanced insights grounded on literature and theory in the topics discussed with clearly stated personal contribution. In the beginning the students are expected to present a problem statement and in the end give answers or possible answers to address the stated problem. References to literature should be given throughout the text and students own contribution clearly indicated in the writing.
